The Kawana Girl Guide Hut is located at 54 Iluka Avenue, Buddina. It is the base for the Kawana District of Girl Guides Queensland and is available for regular hire to community groups. The Kawana Girl Guide Hut is owned by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
The Hut is equipped with a full kitchen including instant boiling and chilled water, female bathroom with shower, disabled/male bathroom, air conditioning and ceiling fans. It also has tables, chairs, a whiteboard and a large, wall-mounted TV monitor available for use.
The Kawana Girl Guide Hut shares its fenced grounds with the Kawana Scout Group. The use of the full outdoor area is subject to negotiation with the Kawana Scout Group.
To hire the Kawana Girl Guide Hut, you must have public risk liability insurance and complete a Licence to Occupy form. The rate for hire of the Kawana Girl Guide Hut is currently $30 per hour for regular users and starts from the time you enter the facility until the time that you leave the facility. To lodge a Licence to Occupy through Kawana District Girl Guides a $55 fee will be incurred. This fee is charged by Girl Guides Queensland as a service fee. The lease options are 6 or 12 months with an option to renew. The processing of the Licence to Occupy may take up to 4 weeks. A Certificate of Currency for public risk liability insurance to the extent of not less than $20 million must be submitted with the Licence to Occupy.
The Kawana Girl Guide hut is cleaned on a regular basis, but after each use of the Hut you will be required to:
- return all chairs and tables to their proper places
- remove items from the refrigerator
- sweep the floors
- empty the bins and replace the bin liners
- close all windows
- shut the back door
- turn off the air-conditioners
- turn off the ceiling fans
- turn off ALL lights including bathrooms and outdoor lights
- set the alarm
- lock the front door
- shut the pedestrian gate
